RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat: 'Intolerance is Anti-India,...'

Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), said on Saturday that bigotry is anti-India and that all religions should be respected.

Bhagwat has stated that diversity is a virtue rather than a source of division. Speaking at a Vijaya Dashami celebration in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Bhagwat stated that dharma is the life of India and our source of inspiration.

“We have such a big and diverse society, but sometimes people try to create diversity as a division or to divide even when there is no diversity, only to agitate people and to create an environment wherein the society loses faith and starts disrespecting the government, law and order, and the administration,” he said.

“Dharma is the Sva (self) of India, and not religion. Who are we? We call ourselves ‘Hindu’ because this Dharma is universal. It belongs to everyone. We have neither discovered it nor given it to anyone but only identified it. Hence we call it Hindu Dharma, which is a religion of humanity,” he added.

Speaking further, Bhagwat said, “Situations are challenging sometimes and sometimes good. Human life is materially happier than before, but we see that in this happy and developed human society, many struggles continue. The war started between Israel and Hamas, but everyone was worried about how broader it would be and what impact it would have on others.”

Bhagwat also discussed the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

“What happened at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata is shameful. But, this is not a single incident. We should be vigilant to not let such incidents happen,” Bhagwat said.

“But, even after that incident, the way things were delayed, criminals were tried to be protected, is the result of the alliance between crime and politics, he added.

Speaking on the Bangladesh crisis, the RSS chief said, “In Bangladesh, people say they have a threat from India and hence they think it would be best for them to side with Pakistan. We all know which countries are pushing such discussions, and narrations, we don’t need to name them, and they wish is to create such conditions in India as well. Deep state, wokeism, and cultural-marxism are a few words that are in discussion. A few people say that these things are not here, but they are for long.”

“The chaos in Bangladesh brought back the tradition of committing atrocities against Hindus there. For the first time, Hindus united and came on the roads for their protection. But, as long as this radical nature of committing atrocities out of anger is there, not only Hindus, but all minorities will be in danger. Being weak is a crime. If we are weak, we are inviting atrocities against her. Wherever we are, we need to be united and empowered,” he said.
