Meet Maharashtra’s Wealthiest Candidate

In Maharashtra, Parag Shah, the BJP’s candidates for the Ghatkopar East constituency, disclosed assets of Rs 3,383.06 crore. This makes him the wealthiest contender in the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections.

In his affidavit, the sitting MLA declared moveable and immovable assets of Rs 3,315.52 crore and Rs 67.53 crore respectively.

Parag Shah, a real estate entrepreneur, possesses a bachelor’s degree in commerce. He created Man Infraconstruction Ltd in 2002 and then entered politics with the goal of serving the community on a larger scale. He was elected as a BJP Municipal Councillor from Ghatkopar East, Ward No.132, in February 2017.

Nearly 8,000 candidates, including those from major political parties in the ruling Mahyuti and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), filed nominations for Maharashtra’s 288 assembly seats. The state’s elections will take place on November 20th, with the results being counted on November 23.

The incumbent BJP is contesting 148 assembly seats in Maharashtra, while the Congress is contesting 103.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena has fielded candidates for 80 seats, while deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s NCP has nominated 53 candidates for the upcoming elections. While five seats have been allocated to other Mahayuti supporters, no decision has been made on two sectors.

The Congress is contesting 103 seats in the MVA, followed by the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) with 89 and Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP) with 87. Three assembly segments are unclear, even though six seats have been allocated to other MVA partners.
