On October 8, 2024, India will observe Indian Air Force Day. The Indian Air Force (IAF) was founded on this day in 1932, therefore it has a long history.

It is a day to honor the valiant men of India who serve their country selflessly and participate in vital operations and humanitarian endeavors. Numerous events, including parades, air shows, and exhibitions showcasing the might of the Indian Air Force, are planned.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has conveyed his greetings to India’s brave air warriors on occasion of Air Force Day.

The Prime Minister posted on X:

“Air Force Day greetings to our brave air warriors. Our Air Force is admired for their courage and professionalism. Their role in protecting our nation is extremely commendable.”

This day marks the establishment of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and since its inception, the force has been playing a key role in preserving India’s sovereignty and security. When this day was established, the IAF constituted a handful of aircraft and personnel that supported the British Royal Air Force. Since its establishment, the Indian Air Force has transformed into a formidable air power.

The Indian Air Force is a significant venue for remembering the commitment and sacrifices made by Air Force members in defense of our nation and its citizens. The Indian Air Force is held in high regard by the public for its vital role in maintaining national security, aiding in natural disaster relief efforts, and actively participating in humanitarian missions.

India is commemorating the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force and the theme for the day is ‘Bhartiya Vayu Sena – Saksham, Sashakt, Atmanirbhar” (Potent, Powerful, and Self-Reliant).’

Several ministers joined the Indian Air Force on Sunday, including Union Minister Rajnath Singh and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin as the chief guests at the airshow held in Chennai. The other notable dignitaries at the event, held to commemorate the IAF Day, included the Chief of the Air Staff — Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief Secretary N Muruganandam, Tamil Nadu Ministers and senior air force officers.
