Aaditya Thackeray vs Milind Deora: Stage Set for Big Maharashtra Battle

The Shiv Sena faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde fielded Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora from Worli for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Deora will contest against Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Aaditya Thackeray.

The Rajya Sabha MP’s name was announced from the seat, a day after Aaditya Thackeray filed his nominations for the upcoming assembly polls.

Milind Deora is currently a Rajya Sabha member and is a three-time MP from South Mumbai. Deora was given the task of handling the Worli constituency during the Lok Sabha polls. Despite being Aaditya’s constituency, the Worli assembly saw a mere 6500 vote lead for UBT.

Notably, Deora and Aaditya Thackeray will also have to reckon with Sandeep Deshpande of the MNS who has also been given a ticket from the constituency.

Aaditya Thackeray filed his nomination for Worli in Mumbai, his current constituency, on Thursday and assured his confidence in victory, saying “people will bless him with their votes”.

“I am very confident that the people will bless me because we are about to form government in Maharashtra and that is for sure. As you can see, this atmosphere is very good, you can see the love people are giving me,” Aaditya Thackeray was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
