Aman Sehrawat (57kg) of India won the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics 2024, defeating Puerto Rican wrestler Darian Cruz 13-5. This is Sehrawat’s first Olympic Games. Aman Sehrawat, a 21-year-old wrestler, lost in the semi-finals to Japanese Rei Higuchi.

India currently has five bronze medals and one silver, which javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won on Thursday.

With Aman Sehrawat’s bronze medal, India has won a medal in wrestling at each Olympic Games since 2008.

Aman raced into the semi-finals with a technical 12-0 victory over Albania’s Zelimkhan Abakanov, giving him a chance to compete for the medal.

He was ousted by the Japanese completely in the bout, and within a blink of an eye, the match concluded. Higuchi moved into the gold medal match with a 10-0 win by technical superiority.

Earlier on Thursday, Aman defeated former European champion Vladimir Egorov by a technical superiority 10-0 win in the first round to reach the quarter-finals.
