Around 90% of iPhones are currently made in China, but this could soon change. Apple is reportedly planning to shift production of all iPhones sold in the U.S. to India, driven by President Donald Trump's trade tariffs. According to the Financial Times, citing insider sources, Apple aims to make the move by next year.

Of the 220 million iPhones sold globally each year, about 60 million are sold in the U.S. While roughly 10–15% of iPhones are already assembled in India, Apple plans to expand this significantly. By the end of 2026, all U.S.-sold iPhones could be India-made, doubling current production levels there.

Trump’s tariffs, particularly on Chinese imports, have pushed Apple to rethink its supply chain. Though smartphones were temporarily exempted from the steepest tariffs, a 20% import tax still applies.

Experts warn that the broader tech market may face rising prices. Analysts suggest that relocating production is crucial for Apple to sustain its growth amid rising costs, with future financial results likely to reflect these shifts.
