The Ministry of Culture has started Project PARI (Public Art of India), an ambitious initiative to promote and celebrate public art in India. The Lalit Kala Akademi and the National Gallery of Modern Art are leading this project, which is being held in conjunction with the 46th World Heritage Committee Meeting in New Delhi from July 21–31, 2024.

More than 200 visual artists have contributed to Project PARI, showcasing a breathtaking variety of ancient art styles like as Thangka, Gond, Warli, and Phad paintings, among others. These pieces, which include sculptures, installations, wall paintings, and murals, combine modern ideas with the rich cultural legacy of India.

The initiative intends to improve Delhi’s visual and cultural environment while encouraging a feeling of community pride and belonging. Project PARI’s display of India’s aesthetic and cultural variety not only draws attention to the nation’s rich creative heritage but also underscores the government’s continued commitment to fusing traditional and contemporary forms of expression.

In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha today, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat provided these information, highlighting the project’s function in reviving public areas and assisting gifted artists.
