India’s cricket team might skip the Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year due to security concerns. Pakistan planned to host matches only in Lahore to address these concerns, but India prefers matches in Dubai or Sri Lanka for safety.
If India withdraws, Sri Lanka, ranked 9th in the 2023 ODI World Cup, could take their place.
India hasn’t played in Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup, meeting only at ICC or ACC events. Last month, India beat Pakistan in the T20 World Cup group stage and won the tournament.
Pakistan will host the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, their first major cricket event since co-hosting the 1996 World Cup and the 1987 Reliance Cup with India.
