On Thursday, West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee proposed an increase in the MLAs’ monthly salaries of Rs 40,000.
The chief minister’s salary, however, won’t be revised, according to Banerjee, who made the disclosure in the house because she hasn’t received pay in a while.
“When compared to those of other states, the salary of West Bengal Assembly MLAs is quite low. As a result, it was decided to raise their salary by Rs 40,000 per month, she said.
However Banerjee omitted to lay out the actual wages of the legislators following the rise, including all allowances and additional compensation as members of the several standing committees.
