In a significant development, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vishnu Deo Sai is scheduled to take the oath as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh on December 13 in Raipur. The swearing-in ceremony, slated for 2 pm, will be conducted at the Science College ground and will witness the esteemed presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as confirmed by an official statement from the Chhattisgarh public relations department on Monday.
Distinguished Attendees: Apart from Prime Minister Modi, the ceremony will be graced by the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, BJP’s state in-charge Om Mathur, and chief ministers from various states.
Leadership Election and Cabinet Formation: Vishnu Deo Sai, the elected representative from the Kunkuri seat in the Surguja division, was chosen as the leader of the BJP legislative party in the Chhattisgarh assembly on Sunday. This marks the first such election for the three states that the BJP emerged victorious in, out of the recent five assembly elections.
The Chhattisgarh government’s statement has confirmed that Sai’s council of ministers will also be sworn in on the same day. However, there is no formal announcement regarding the composition of Sai’s team.
Potential Cabinet Dynamics: Speculation is rife that two ministers in Sai’s cabinet may be designated as deputy chief ministers. Additionally, there are indications that the cabinet will strive to strike a balance between seasoned party leaders and the emerging second line of leadership.
BJP leaders have hinted at the inclusion of two women legislators, Renuka Singh and Lata Usendi, who represent seats in the tribal belt in north and south Chhattisgarh.
Political commentator Harsh Dubey emphasized the BJP’s challenge in “managing the regional and caste balance” while forming the cabinet. This includes balancing experienced lawmakers with new faces who secured high-profile seats with substantial margins in the recent elections. As the state eagerly awaits the swearing-in ceremony, the BJP aims to build a leadership team that reflects diversity and efficiency.
