The Royal Challengers Virat Kohli, Bangalore’s batting hero, reached another unique milestone in the Indian Premier League, becoming the first batter in the competition’s history during a match against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

In front of his home crowd in Delhi, Virat Kohli got off to a flying start with a typical boundary in the opening over. The former RCB captain, who is the game’s all-time leading run scorer, became the first batter to reach 7000 runs in the competition, with his compatriot Shikhar Dhawan remaining a long way behind in second place.

Ahead of the key match against David Warner’s side, the local lad contacted his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma and received his blessing in front of a raucous home crowd. The star top-order hitter has struggled for runs in recent matches, but he appears to be in terrific form against the bottom-placed side.
