Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are expected to be part of star-studded sides for the Duleep Trophy. This move comes ahead of India’s Test series against Bangladesh, with selectors hoping to have key players compete in the Duleep Trophy, which begins on September 5 in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
According to The Indian Express reports, key players in the competition would include Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav.
However, top pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be unavailable due to an extended rest period.
The senior selection committee will also look into Bumrah’s availability for the forthcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh. India has a challenging schedule ahead of them, with 10 Test matches in the next four months, five of which will be against Australia.
The Duleep Trophy, starting from September 5 to September 24, will provide players with valuable match experience as well as a platform for analyzing their form and preparation. The addition of top players is intended to increase the tournament’s competitiveness and appeal.
The first Test between India and Bangladesh will take place in Chennai on September 19.
