During a communal clash in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday, a 22-year-old male was shot and died. Music playing from loudspeakers caused the altercation as the goddess Durga procession passed through the Mahrajganj neighborhood of Mansoor village. Around six additional people were hurt in shooting and stone-pelting events. In relation to encouraging the violence, police have arrested more than thirty persons and booked one man.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) in Bahraich, Vrinda Shukla, announced that 25 to 30 individuals have been detained as authorities work to restore order in the affected areas. She mentioned that a significant number of police officers have been deployed to manage the situation. She added that a case has been filed against a man named Salman, from whose house—also a shop—gunshots were fired.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condemned the violence and promised that those culpable would face harsh consequences. Similar processions in Fakharpur town and other sites were canceled as a result of local communal tensions.
However, CM Adityanath stated, “Idol immersion must continue.” He instructed authorities to ensure that idol immersions continue as planned, coordinating with religious organizations to ensure timely completion.
