The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will open registration for the Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) examination in 2024. Candidates must fill out the UPSC IFS preliminary application form on the UPSC’s official website.
Meanwhile, the UPSC IFS preliminary notice will be announced on February 14, 2024. Candidates may register for the test on or before March 5, 2024. The UPSC will hold the test on May 26, 2024.
To be eligible for the second stage of the IFS test, registered applicants must first take and pass the Civil Services (Preliminary) exam. Candidates can read more exam-related information below.
Exam Pattern
The IFS competitive examination consists of two parts. One is an objective-type Civil Services preliminary test used to screen and select applicants. The other is the Main exam, which is administered in both written and interview formats.
Eligibility
According to the official announcement, applicants (male/female/transgender) are advised to carefully study the guidelines of the Indian Forest Service examination released by the Government (Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change).
Candidates applying for the test should verify that they meet all of the qualifying requirements. Their admittance at all levels of the test will be strictly provisional, subject to meeting the qualifying requirements.
A candidate must be either
(a) A citizen of India, or
(b) A subject of Nepal, or
(c) A subject of Bhutan, or
(d) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Age limit
A candidate must be at least 21 years old and not quite 32 years old on August 1, 2023, which means they must have been born between August 2, 1991 and August 1, 2002.
No other age-related documents will be accepted, including horoscopes, affidavits, birth certificates extracted from municipal corporations, service records, and the like. In this section of the instructions, the term Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate refers to the alternative certificates listed above.
Candidates are cautioned that just receiving an admission certificate does not mean that their candidature has been officially approved by the Commission.
