The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) said on Monday that in order to maintain the Aadhaar database up to date, notifications are sent to Aadhaar number holders on a regular basis, but no numbers have been canceled.
Aadhaar, as the most generally used digital identification, is used to access a variety of subsidies, benefits, and services, according to the UIDAI website. The authority has also launched an initiative to update documents and Aadhaar information in order to preserve the accuracy of the Aadhaar database.
“In the course of activities undertaken to keep the Aadhaar database updated, intimations are issued from time to time to Aadhaar number holders. In this connection, it is clarified that no Aadhaar number has been cancelled,” UIDAI said.
In case any Aadhaar number holder has any grievance they can submit their feedback to UIDAI, it said, promising that grievance will be duly addressed.

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, said on Sunday that the Aadhaar cards of residents in the state had been “deactivated” by the BJP-led national government in advance of the Lok Sabha elections, preventing them from receiving benefits from a range of social welfare programs.
Banerjee stated during a public distribution programme in Birbhum district that her administration will continue to fund state-run social programs even if the beneficiaries do not have an Aadhaar card.
“Be careful, they (BJP-led Centre) are deactivating Aadhaar cards. Several Aadhaar cards have been made inactive in many districts of Bengal. They are doing this so that people do not get benefits of schemes like ‘Lakshmi Bhandar’ through bank transfer and free ration before the polls,” she said.
“My clear instruction to the chief secretary is to ensure that people are not deprived of the benefits even if they do not have active Aadhaar cards. People of Bengal need not be worried. I am there for you,” the CM had said.
She alleged that Aadhaar cards of 50 people at Jamalpur in Purba Bardhaman district and several others in Birbhum, North and South 24 Parganas as well as in North Bengal have been “delinked”.
