According to the Indian Space Research Institute (ISRO), Chandrayaan 3 is scheduled to touchdown on the moon at 6:04 p.m. today. In light of this event, the Centre has requested that all universities and higher educational institutes (HEIs), including IITs and IIMs, hold special assemblies to watch the landing live.
“The arrival of India’s Chandrayaan 3 is a momentous occasion that will not only pique our youth’s interest, but also ignite a desire for exploration.” It would instill a strong sense of pride and unity as we collectively honour Indian science and technology supremacy.
It would help to develop an environment of scientific inquiry and innovation,” stated Higher Education Secretary K Sanjay Murthy in a letter to all educational institution heads.
Chandrayaan 3 is scheduled to settle gently on the moon’s south pole.
Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Education Minister, too sent his best wishes for the safe landing of Chandrayaan 3.
On Tuesday, the University Grants Commission (UGC) issued a similar request to HEIs. The University Grants Commission described it as a huge step forward for Indian Science, Engineering, Technology, and Industry. According to UGC, the event will be streamed live on numerous channels, including ISRO’s website (isro.gov.in), official YouTube channel, and Facebook page (facebook.com/ISRO), as well as DD National. The live stream will begin at 5:27 p.m.
