Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray slammed the Eknath Shinde-led administration on Wednesday for the fall of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue, claiming that corruption had reached an all-time high during the Mahayuti regime.
On Monday afternoon, a 35-foot monument of the founder of the 17th century Maratha empire, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rajkot fort in Sindhudurg on December 4 last year, fell.
Mr Thackeray, speaking at a news conference alongside NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Congress chairman Nana Patole, said the government’s assertion that the monument toppled owing to gusting winds is “height of shamelessness”.
