President-elect Donald Trump appointed Michael Kratsios to head tech policy at the White House and appointed billionaire Stephen Feinberg as the official No. 2 at the Pentagon, filling important defense and crypto policy positions in his upcoming government.
Trump will appoint Kratsios to the Senate-confirmed post of head of the Office of Science and Technology Policy. The managing director of Scale AI has been assisting in staffing the Department of Government Efficiency, the Elon Musk-led effort to reduce the size of the federal government, after holding lesser technology-related positions under the first Trump administration.
Former Kratsios deputy Lynne Parker, who will lead the Presidential Council of Advisers for Science and Technology, or PCAST, and Bo Hines, a former football player for Yale and North Carolina State and a failed Republican congressional campaign, will join Kratsios in key policy posts. The new Crypto Council will be led by Hines.
David Sacks, the so-called “crypto czar,” who has stated that he will divide his time between Silicon Valley and the White House, will be the boss of both councils.
