On Tuesday, US President-elect Donald Trump appointed Tom Barrack, who chaired his 2016 inauguration committee, as the next ambassador to Turkey, and Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former Fox News personality who is now a political fundraiser, as the next US ambassador to Greece.
Since December 31, 2020, Guilfoyle has been engaged to Donald Trump Jr., Trump’s son.
In a statement on the social networking site Truth Social, Trump stated, “Kimberly has been a close friend and ally for many years.” She’s “perfectly suited to foster strong bilateral relations with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation,” he stated.
Guilfoyle is not the first person with familial ties to be appointed.
