Tragedy Strikes: North East Express Derails in Bihar, Four Dead

The North East Express train derailed in Bihar on Wednesday, resulting in at least four fatalities and about 30 injuries. An official reported that the event happened about 9.35 p.m. nearby Raghunathpur station in Buxar.

The train was travelling to Kamakhya near Guwahati in Assam when it left Anand Vihar Terminus in Delhi. Speaking to NDTV about the event, Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey stated that teams from the federal and state disaster response agencies had arrived at the scene. He added that the injured individuals would be taken to AIIMS, Patna.

The Health Department, the Disaster Management Department, and the district officials of Buxar and Bhojpur have all been contacted, according to Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, to expedite the relief and rescue efforts.

According to the office of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, they are “closely monitoring the unfortunate derailment” of the train near Raghunathpur.

They further stated that they are in contact with the district authorities in Buxar as well as other agencies.
