Traffic Restrictions in Delhi for ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’-Amrit Kalash Yatra

Due to the “Meri Mati Mera Desh-Amrit Kalash Yatra,” which is scheduled to take place at Vijay Chowk for two days on October 30 and 31, the Delhi Traffic Police has enforced traffic restriction.

As per the DTP’s tweet, “Traffic Advisory In view of ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh-Amrit Kalash Yatra’ at Vijay Chowk on October 30 & 31, 2023, special traffic arrangements have been made. Kindly follow the advisory.”

What is ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh-Amrit Kalash Yatra’?

The “Meri Maati Mera Desh Maha Abhiyan” is organising this Kalash Yatra nationwide with the intention of honouring the sacrifices made by the unkillable martyrs. The dirt from the birthplace of the immortal martyrs in Amrit Kalash is being transported to the National Martyrs Memorial in Delhi as part of this yatra.

An ‘Amrit Vatika’ will be established in the vicinity of the National War Memorial as part of the Amrit Kalash Yatra by combining soil and plants from 7,500 urns located all around the nation, according to the official announcement. Launched on August 9th of this year, the statewide “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign is an homage to honour freedom fighters who gave their lives for the country.

Delhi Traffic regulations 

As per the Delhi traffic police, the movement of traffic has been regulated or diverted around Vijay Chaowk between 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Following the advice, DTP has requested that commuters avoid the following roads: –

-Aurbindo Chowk

-R/A – RML

-Q point

Additionally, it stated that commuters are urged to arrange their travel schedules appropriately as rush hour traffic is anticipated on Delhi Metro routes, particularly on the Yellow and Violet lines.
