An email threatening to blow up up to 13 airports nationwide was received by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Sunday. At 3:05 PM, the CISF office received an email threatening bombs, which prompted the start of a search operation. Nothing unusual was discovered.
Panic was brought on by the bomb fear at the airports in Bhopal, Patna, Jammu, and Jaipur in addition to Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. The bomb threat assessment committee, however, deemed the threat to be “non-specific” after the examination.
“Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, Lucknow, and other airports received a threatening e-mail regarding explosive devices at 3.05 pm. The security team of CCSAI Airport conducted a thorough inspection of the entire airport. After the inspection, the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee declared the threat as ‘non-specific’,” the official statement read.
Apart from inspection and screening, Lucknow Airport is taking additional steps to ensure the safety of passengers, it added.
Earlier today, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) and over 10 hospitals received bomb threats via email. The Delhi Police later said that the threat was a hoax and a further probe was carried out to find out the miscreants who sent the email.
Earlier this month, bomb threats were sent to around 100 schools in Delhi, two in Noida and one in Lucknow on May 1, which later turned out to be a hoax. The threats were sent to the schools using a Russian email service.
