Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has been threatened with death by Mumbai Traffic Police, who said the BJP leader will be killed “like Baba Siddique” if he does not resign from his position within ten days.
This occurs weeks after former minister and NCP (Ajit Pawar) leader Baba Siddique was shot and killed in Bandra. Actor Salman Khan has received several death threats in addition to the threat on the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
A WhatsApp helpline number of the Mumbai Traffic Police control room received a message from an unknown number last evening. The message said that if Yogi Adiyanath did not resign in 10 days, he would be “killed like Baba Siddique”. Mumbai Police is investigating the matter and trying to track down the sender of the message.
The most recent threat message coincides with a slew of death threats that Mumbai police have been receiving over the previous few weeks. Salman Khan was the victim of the majority of threats, which threatened to murder the star unless he paid a ransom. The police located the senders of these texts and arrested them in the wake of the shooting outside the actor’s home earlier this year. Among them are a tattoo artist from Noida and a vegetable vendor from Jamshedpur. They are being questioned by Mumbai Police after being placed on transit custody.
One of the threat texts mentioned Zeeshan Siddique, a Bandra MLA and the son of Baba Siddique. On October 12, the former minister was fatally shot near his son’s office. Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang has claimed responsibility for the murder.
The dead politician was believed to be connected to Salman Khan, who had already received death threats from the Bishnoi gang, allegedly because of his role in the blackbuck hunting case in Rajasthan during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang was also held responsible for the April shooting outside Salman Khan’s residence. The actor’s security has been tightened up following the shooting outside and death threats.
