Study Confirmed Women being More Stressed than Men

Mental health refers to our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It has an impact on how we think, feel, and act, altering our ability to cope with stress, interact with others, and make decisions.

Good mental health is important at all stages of life, from childhood and adolescence to maturity. A mental health study proved what many had suspected: working women in India are more anxious than men.

For its latest report titled “Emotional Wellness State of Employees”, YourDost surveyed more than 5,000 Indian professionals and gained some telling insights into workplace stressors.

After gathering responses from more than 5,000 respondents, mental health platform YourDost found that at workplaces, women were more stressed than men.Nearly three quarters, or 72.2%, of female respondents reported high-stress levels. In contrast, when men were asked the same question, 53.64% of them said they experience high-stress levels.A higher percentage of women also reported lack of work-life balance – 18% of women said they struggled to balance the personal and professional, as compared to 12% men.

No work-life balance is believed to be one of the leading causes for stress among women, along with lack of recognition, low morale and fear of being judged. A staggering 20% of women reported always feeling low, as compared to only 9.27% of men.

According to the “Emotional Wellness State of Employees” survey, employees aged 21 to 30 are the most stressed.

MOST STRESSED AGE GROUP

64.42% of workers aged 21 to 30 reported experiencing high levels of stress, followed by 59.81% of workers aged 31 to 40.The least stressed age group was 41 to 50, with 53.5% of employees reporting high levels of occupational stress.

“The shift in workplace dynamics, including the emergence of remote and hybrid work models, has had an influence on the 21-30 age group. To help them, employers should focus on regular communication and involvement,” stated Dr. Jini Gopinath, Chief Psychology Officer of YourDost. The data were obtained after surveying employees from several industries, including IT and manufacturing, transportation, staffing and recruiting, technology and media, legal services, business consulting and services, and more.
