Stree 2 earned ₹8 crore during its special opening premieres on Wednesday, accoding to the websites. The movie earned about ₹46 crore on its first day of release, bringing its total earnings to an approximated ₹54.25 crore.
This surpasses both Fighter and Kalki 2898 AD (Hindi) to become the highest opening day grosser of 2024. Considering it took six days for Stree to earn ₹ 54.88 Cr net in India, these numbers are record openers. On its first day of release in Hindi, the movie earned a 75.09% occupancy rate. With ₹65.5 crore from Jawan and ₹55 crore from Pathaan, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Stree 2 also records the greatest opening for a Hindi film ever.
The much-awaited sequel to the 2018 hit horror-comedy film Stree released on Independence Day, Thursday. Stree 2 is directed by Amar Kaushil and starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi in the lead roles.
The film tells the story of how Sarkata now terrorises the people of Chanderi and they now look to Stree for help. The film is also sprinkled with numerous starry cameos which the makers have carefully kept under wraps. Varun Dhawan reprises his role as Bhediya, even featuring in a song with Shraddha.
