The Chennai Super Kings, captained by MS Dhoni, suffered their worst IPL loss in terms of balls left on Friday.  The defending champions chased out the five-time champs in only 10.1 overs after they could only muster 103/9 in 20 overs against the Kolkata Knight Riders. CSK is currently ranked ninth out of ten teams in the IPL 2025 after suffering their fifth defeat in six games.

Additionally, this marks the first time in IPL history that CSK has dropped three straight games in Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium.  Manoj Tiwary, a former India player and MS Dhoni's former teammate, asked some direct questions following the defeat.  "CSK's cart will start to decline from this point on.  From the previous three to four games, it appeared that way.  After playing for 20 to 25 years, you realize what may happen when you observe the players' shot selection.  Some things were beyond my comprehension.  Noor Ahmad won your Purple Cap, but when did he show up to bowl?  in the eighth over.

Additionally, he removed Sunil Narine from the game with the very first ball.  Cricket logic naturally dictates that if the opposition spinners are performing so well, you should bring in the Purple Cap winner as soon as possible.  In general, MS Dhoni doesn't make mistakes like these.  It's been so long since I've seen it.  "Maybe it's worth knowing why it happened today," Manoj Tiwary posted on Cricbuzz.

"Why don't they start over at the beginning?  I believe it's clear that you reevaluate after a defeat.  However, there are some things going on that I don't comprehend.

For example, Ashwin bowled over the stumps today instead of rounding them like he used to do with all the left-handers.  I made things very simple for Sunil Narine.  These minor details...when you have a player and wicketkeeper with MS Dhoni's level of experience?  Have their brains stopped functioning, or is it just that they're dimaag nahi chal raha hai kya?   With a decisive eight-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday, Sunil Narine delivered a game-winning all-around performance to assist the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) get back to winning ways.

Narine was outstanding with the ball and finished with remarkable numbers of 3/13 after bowling first.  His spell was essential in keeping CSK to 103/9.  The seasoned spinner prevented the CSK hitters from settling by taking crucial wickets and applying the brakes throughout the middle overs.

Narine's influence continued beyond that.  The West Indian, who opened the batting with Quinton de Kock, went on a tear from the first ball.  Together, they scored 46 runs for the first wicket, giving the pursuit a strong start.  Narine gave KKR the impetus they required with a scorching 44 off 19 balls that was peppered with two boundaries and five tall sixes.

Anshul Kamboj, who was playing for CSK for the first time, bowled de Kock for 23 while Noor Ahmad removed Narine on the first ball of his spell.  Nevertheless, the harm was already done.  The team's captain, Ajinkya Rahane (20*), led the way with a cool knock and partnered with Narine for 39 runs before Rinku Singh joined him.

Rinku (15*) helped KKR chase down the target in only 10.1 overs by finishing the match with a spectacular six in the 11th over.  With a final score of 107/2, they not only secured their third victory of the year but also significantly increased their Net Run Rate.
