The prestigious South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) is back with its 11th edition to honor the best of South Indian Cinema. SIIMA has unveiled the nominations for films released in the 2022 calendar year. The event will take place in Dubai on September 15th and 16th, 2023, bringing together South Indian film stars and connecting global fans to the charm of South Indian cinema.
SIIMA 2023 Nominations:
Brinda Prasad Adusumilli, Chairperson of SIIMA, expressed excitement about the 2023 nominations, stating that the South Indian films of 2022 have transcended language barriers and gained national acclaim, especially with movies like RRR, KGF, Kantara, Vikram, and PS1. The competition for SIIMA 2023 awards promises to be intense, with a strong list of contenders.
Leading Nominations in Different Languages:
- Telugu: “RRR,” directed by S.S Rajamouli and featuring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan, leads with 11 nominations. “Sita Raman,” directed by Hanu Raghavapudi and starring Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur, follows closely with 10 nominations.
- Tamil: “Ponniyin Selvan:1,” directed by Mani Ratnam and starring Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, leads with 10 nominations. “Vikram,” directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and featuring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil, follows with 9 nominations.
- Kannada: “Kantara,” directed by Rishab Shetty and starring Rishab Shetty and Sapthami Gowda, and “KGF Chapter 2,” directed by Prashanth Neel and featuring Yash and Sanjay Dutt, both lead with 11 nominations.
- Malayalam: “Bheeshma Parvam,” directed by Amal Neerad and starring Mammootty, leads with 8 nominations. “Thallumaala,” directed by Khalid Rahman and starring Tovino Thomas and Kalyani Priyadarshan, along with “Hridayam,” directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, are tied for the second position with 7 nominations.
