Several Malls in Delhi NCR Received Bomb Threats

At ten in the morning on Saturday, several malls in Noida and Gurugram (Gurgaon), including the well-known DLF Mall of India and Ambience Mall, received bomb threats over email, according to ANI, citing the chief civil defense team.

“After receiving the email, the district administration started search operations in the malls. Police administration, dog squad, civil defence team are engaged in the search,” said Mohit Sharma, Chief Civil Defence Team, Gurugram.

“A security mock drill was conducted in DLF mall. These kinds of drills are conducted to conduct checks in large areas to make sure that no one is in danger. Fire services, dog squad, and police teams participated in the drill,” said Ram Badan Singh, DCP Noida.

The Ambience Mall in Gurugram was evacuated shortly after the bomb threat was reported. Teams from the fire department and bomb squad hurried over.

Several people were evacuated from DLF Mall of India in Sector 18 also on Saturday, triggering fear of a bomb threat even as the mall authorities said it was a security drill.

In a statement made at around 1:35 p.m., DLF Mall of India stated that the “activity” was a security drill done in collaboration with Noida authorities.

“We are pleased to confirm that the mall is now open and fully operational,” it said.

“The safety of our patrons is our utmost priority, and DLF is consistently dedicated to maintaining the highest security standards to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all,” the statement added.

Many schools in Delhi NCR, including those in Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad, were seized with fear on May 1st of this year after receiving emails claiming that explosives were being planted on their campuses.

It turns out that the threat that had police and security officials on edge was a hoax.
