The ODI World Cup 2023 kicked off with a thrilling match between India and Australia, but the limelight was stolen by none other than the notorious serial pitch invader, Daniel Jarvis, commonly known as Jarvo. Jarvo’s audacious stunt saw him breaching tight security at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, resulting in a ban imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Team India, led by Rohit Sharma, started their campaign with a remarkable victory over Australia. They skillfully restricted the visitors to a meager 199 runs and chased down the target in just 41.2 overs. In this impressive chase, the partnership between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul played a pivotal role, with Kohli scoring 85 runs and Rahul remaining unbeaten at 97.
However, the match’s buzz extended beyond the cricketing action as Jarvo made his infamous entry onto the field. A viral video circulating on social media captures the audacious intrusion by this notorious social media influencer, exposing the weaknesses in the stadium’s security.
In the video, Jarvo is seen sprinting onto the field before being halted by India’s wicketkeeper, KL Rahul. The security personnel swiftly intervened and escorted Jarvo away. Surprisingly, amidst the chaos, the Indian cricketing sensation, Virat Kohli, approached Jarvo and urged him to cease his antics.
“Jarvo, bro, I love your videos, but this has got to stop now,” Virat Kohli was heard saying in the video.
This marks the fourth instance where the English prankster has successfully infiltrated security during a match involving India. Recognized as a public nuisance in the UK, Jarvo had previously breached security during the 2021 series against India, leading to his banishment from English grounds.
In response to the security breach in the ODI World Cup, the ICC promptly imposed a ban on Jarvo from attending any further matches in the tournament. An ICC spokesperson expressed their concern, stating, “The individual concerned has been banned from attending any further games at the event, and the matter is in the hands of the Indian authorities.”
The safety and security of all individuals participating in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 remain a top priority. The ICC spokesperson conveyed their commitment to working with the venue to investigate the incident thoroughly and consider additional security measures to prevent future breaches.
