In the capital city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia recently hosted the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mukaab, which is anticipated to be the “world’s largest building.” The $50 billion project is a part of the Arab nation’s futuristic construction boom.
When finished, Mukaab will measure 1,300 feet in height and 1,200 feet in width, which will provide enough space to house 20 Empire State Buildings, according to The Sun.
The structure will have a total floor area of 2 million square feet and will contain both residential and commercial space. It will feature restaurants, shops, offices, and fine dining. In addition, there will be 104,000 residential units and 9,000 hotel rooms.
The massive cube will measure 400m X 400m X 400m. Its design is a combination of modern Najdi architecture with cutting-edge technologies, including immersive digital and holographic experiences.
The New Murabba Development Company declared that it will employ artificial intelligence to provide tourists with immersive experiences, including massive screens that would cover the square’s outside.
According to the New York Post, the constructor claims that Mukaab would be “human-first” and that green areas will be reachable from anywhere in the cube in 15 minutes.
Wadis, a riverbed feature, served as the inspiration for the structures and the neighborhood around Mukaab. Leading up to the enormous cube are meandering, organized walkways dotted with smaller structures that will mimic streams gushing through rocks.
It is anticipated that the Mukaab will generate 334,000 employment and more over $51 billion in non-oil GDP.
In order to finish the project by 2030, nine hundred personnel will be employed.
It is part of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s efforts to modernize the kingdom, lessen its reliance on oil revenue, diversify the economy, and strengthen public service sectors.
