Sachin Tendulkar’s Jaw-Dropping Statue Revealed at Wankhede Stadium Today

A momentous occasion is on the horizon as Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai prepares to unveil a life-sized statue of the cricketing legend, Sachin Tendulkar. This grand tribute, set to coincide with India’s clash against Sri Lanka in the World Cup 2023, promises to be a star-studded affair.

Crafted by the talented painter-sculptor Pramod Kamble, this statue is a true masterpiece. It captures the essence of Sachin Tendulkar’s legendary cricketing career, displaying him in his signature over-the-top stroke. Positioned adjacent to the revered Sachin Tendulkar Stand, the statue symbolizes the enduring connection between the cricketing maestro and the hallowed grounds where he scripted numerous historic moments.

The buzz around Tendulkar’s statue began earlier this year, and fans have been eagerly anticipating its inauguration. As the final touches are added to this magnificent creation, the ceremony is set to be graced by luminaries, including Sachin Tendulkar himself, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The cricketing world will also be well-represented, with BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Treasurer Ashish Shelar among the key figures in attendance. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will unite to pay homage, with President Amol Kale, Secretary Ajinkya Naik, and other apex council members participating in the celebration.

Sachin Tendulkar’s monumental statue is a testament to his enduring legacy, placed in the heart of Indian cricket. It’s a fitting tribute nearly a decade after his retirement from international cricket, an emotional farewell etched in cricketing history.

Wankhede Stadium holds a special place in Tendulkar’s heart, being the stage where he clinched the 2011 World Cup and achieved his career’s zenith. The iconic venue witnessed Tendulkar’s remarkable performances, with 455 runs in 11 ODIs and 847 runs in 10 Test matches. His greatness here remains unparalleled, with a century and three half-centuries in ODIs and a memorable 148 against Sri Lanka in the Test format.

Sachin Tendulkar’s statue joins the ranks of his achievements, alongside his Madame Tussauds wax statue unveiled in 2009, making him the first Indian sportsperson to receive that honor. Now, 14 years later, this moment at Wankhede Stadium adds another chapter to the story of the cricketing legend.
