On Friday, January 26, India celebrated its 75th Republic Day along the Kartavya Path in New Delhi, showcasing the might of its military forces, cultural diversity, and “Nari Shakti.” The 75th Republic Day procession, which included the themes “Viksit Bharat” and “Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka,” was centered upon women and featured French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest this year.
French President’s Arrival: French President Emmanuel Macron served as the chief guest, breaking tradition by arriving with the Indian President in a horse-drawn carriage, last used in 1984.
National War Memorial Tribute: Prime Minister Modi paid respects at the National War Memorial, joined by the three service chiefs, marking the beginning of the Republic Day celebrations.
All-Women Band Leading Parade: A significant highlight was an all-women band, the first to lead the parade, with 112 women playing Indian tribal and folk instruments.
French Legion Contingent: A contingent from the French Legion, established in 1831, participated in the parade, showcasing cooperation between India and France.
Harmony in Indian Regiments: Indian regiments like The Madras Regiment, Rajputana Rifles, and Sik Regiment displayed precision and harmony, with a special focus on an all-women Tri-Service Group.
Nari Shakti Theme: The parade’s theme of “nari shakti” or the power of women was evident in the all-women contingents, including the band and Tri-Service Group.
Motorcycle Stunt Display: A daring display of motorcycle stunts featured 265 women from paramilitary groups, emphasizing Indian values and the importance of women.
Cultural Extravaganza: The Culture Ministry showcased around 1900 sarees from different regions and a rolling tableau representing various states, emphasizing the diversity of Indian culture.
Science and Technology Displays: Ministries highlighted achievements in 2023, including the Indian Space Agency’s East rabu, the Electronics Ministry’s focus on artificial intelligence, and the Ministry of External Affairs showcasing the G20 logo.
Indian Air Force Flypast: The parade concluded with a spectacular flypast by the Indian Air Force, involving 54 aircraft, showcasing military prowess and technology.
