Who can forget the 1994 comedy flick Andaz Apna Apna, starring Salman Khan and Aamir Khan? It’s been nearly 29 years since the film was released in theatres. However, viewers still find it fresh and funny every time they watch it. However, despite being a cult classic, the film bombed at the box office.
According to sources, in a recent media engagement, director Rajkumar Santoshi explained why the picture bombed at the box office, which has piqued everyone’s interest.
During a recent chat, Santoshi stated that the picture did not perform well at the box office and was pulled from theatres around two weeks after its first release. He went on to say that following the release of Maine Pyar Kiya, Salman’s image had changed to that of a romantic hero. “While Andaz Apna Apna was a completely different story back then,” he said. It focuses on comedy, adventure, and humour rather than romance. People took the time to learn about this film. The distributors were also rookies when the picture was released 29 years ago.”
