It was a landmark day in India’s pageant and modeling industries. Rachel Gupta, from Punjab, became the first Indian representative to win the prestigious Miss Grand International title.
She was crowned Miss Grand International 2024 by the outgoing titleholder, Luciana Fuster of Peru, at the competition’s international finals held at MGI Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. During the same event, four runners-up were crowned. The runners-up were Christine Juliane Opiaza (1st runner-up) from the Philippines, Thae Su Nyein (2nd runner-up) from Myanmar, Safiétou Kabengele (3rd runner-up) from France, and Talita Hartmann (4th runner-up) from Brazil.
Miss Grand International is one of the world’s largest and most anticipated international beauty pageants, based in Thailand and owned by Thai celebrity, entrepreneur, and media personality NawatItsaragrisil. The event has been hosted by countries like Venezuela, Indonesia, Myanmar, the United States, and Vietnam. It is known for its magnificent production value, extravagant grand finale, and several entertaining pre-finale activities.
