Congress politician Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a stinging assault on Narendra Modi on Saturday, claiming that the prime minister had “destroyed” the dignity of the country’s highest office by continually making “hollow promises” to 140 crore Indians.
She further stated that instead of worrying about the Congress, Modi should focus on “restoring the dignity of his post by resorting to truth”.
Her comments come after Modi claimed on Friday that the Congress is “badly exposed” in front of the people for promising them something it knows it would never be able to achieve.
The prime minister launched a furious attack on the opposition party, capitalizing on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks that the Congress’ state units should make well financed pledges.
He further claimed that the development trajectory and fiscal health of the Congress-ruled states of Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana are deteriorating.
Hitting back at the prime minister, Priyanka Gandhi said in a post in X in Hindi, “Mahatma Gandhi used to say ‘Truth is God’. ‘Satyameva Jayate’ written in Mundaka Upanishad is our national motto. These mottos establishing truth became the ideals of the Indian freedom movement, the reconstruction of India and public life.
