Samia Suluhu Hassan, the president of Tanzania, arrived in India on Sunday to begin a four-day visit aimed at boosting bilateral ties.
After a gap of more than eight years, Tanzania’s president is making a state visit to India.
Talks between Hassan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are slated to take place on Monday.
“Giving a fresh impetus to India-Tanzania ties. President @SuluhuSamia of Tanzania arrives on a State Visit to India. This is her first visit to India since the assumption of the office of President,” Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi wrote on X after Hassan’s arrival.
On October 10, the president of Tanzania will take part in a business and investment summit in Delhi.
On Monday morning, Hassan will have a formal welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, and then she and Modi will have a lengthy bilateral discussion.
