PM YASASVI Scholarships Shift to Merit-Based Selection for 2023

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has canceled the entrance test that was scheduled for September 29, 2023, to select the candidates to award the scholarships, so this year’s Prime Minister Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (PM YASASVI) awards will be made on the basis of merit.

The scholarships will now be given to pupils based on a merit list created using their grades from classes 8 and 10.

Candidates may apply on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) website if they received at least 60% in Class 8 and Class 10. The National Scholarship Portal will be utilized in the student selection process.

With the introduction of the Prime Minister Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (PM YASASVI), 30,000 students from elite schools who belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and Denotified Tribes (DNT) will now be eligible for financial aid. The parents’ and guardians’ combined annual income shouldn’t exceed 2.5 Lakhs.

According to the programme, children in Class 9 and Class 10 are eligible to receive a scholarship of up to 75,000 a year. While Class 11/12 kids will receive 1,25,000 annually. The sum will pay for the student’s tuition and housing costs.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the scholarship will not be awarded for the current academic year based on entrance exam results because doing so would burden applicants further.

Students are encouraged to visit the National Scholarship Portal and the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment website for more information.
