Today is the 81st anniversary of the Quit India movement, which was launched in 1942 by Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian National Congress to abolish British colonial authority in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid respects to the greats who took part in the Quit India Movement on August 9. In a dig at the opposition, PM Modi also stated that the country speaks with one voice when it comes to corruption, dynasticism, and appeasement.
Modi’s apparent dig at the opposition comes as the ruling BJP organizes rallies along these lines around the country on Wednesday.
“Honoring the greats who participated in the Quit India Movement.” “Under Gandhi Ji’s leadership, this Movement played a significant role in freeing India from colonial rule,” he stated in a tweet on X.
“Today, India is saying with one voice: Corruption Leave India,” he added. The Dynasty has left India. Quit appeasing India.” The Prime Minister has previously accused opposition parties of pursuing corrupt, dynastic, and appeasement politics, urging citizens to avoid them.
Earlier, on August 6, while speaking after laying the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations in 27 states and UTs via video conferencing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the opposition of engaging in “negative politics” and claimed that the entire country is now rooting for corruption, dynasty, and appeasement to “quit India.”
“Inspired by the Quit India Movement,” Modi remarked, “the entire country is now roaring Quit India for every evil, saying ‘corruption, quit India,’ ‘dynasty, quit India,’ ‘appeasement, quit India.”
The August Revolution was also remembered by the Congress party as one of the major revolutions of the Indian struggle for freedom.
In a tweet, the party said, “Remembering the legacy of the August Revolution, one of the historic movements of the Indian struggle for independence, we today salute the brave sons of Mother India who became a part of this revolution.”
