Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented and set the groundwork for several development projects costing more than Rs 17,000 crore via video conference in Rajasthan on Friday, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The statement was made as part of the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Rajasthan’ initiative, which included key areas including as highways, railroads, solar energy, electricity transmission, drinking water, and petroleum and natural gas.
PM Modi emphasized the importance of the development initiatives, citing their ability to provide job opportunities and promote prosperity in Rajasthan. He emphasized the significance of quick development in critical sectors like rail, road, energy, and water for Rajasthan’s success. He emphasized the significant commitment of Rs 11 trillion in this year’s Union Budget for infrastructure development.
Railway development in Rajasthan
Turning to railways, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for eight projects worth approximately Rs 2,300 crore. He further highlighted initiatives to electrify, revamp, and repair rail routes in Rajasthan. The prime minister also announced the doubling of the Bandikui-Agra Fort rail line and the dedicated Khatipura railway station to the nation.
Highway infrastructure in Rajasthan
The prime minister launched a number of national highway projects totaling more than Rs 5,000 crore to improve highway infrastructure.
“Today’s projects will enhance connectivity in Kota, Udaipur, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Boondi, Ajmer, Bhilwara, and Chittorgarh.” “These roads will also improve connectivity with Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, and Maharashtra,” the Prime Minister stated.
Jal Jeevan Mission, Rajasthan
PM Modi lay the foundations for many projects in Rajasthan as part of the Jal Jeevan Mission, totaling around Rs 2,400 crore. This is critical for the state, which struggles with water scarcity owing to its arid geography.
The Rajasthan State Assembly elections were place on November 25, 2023. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 115 of the state’s 200 seats, and Bhajan Lal Sharma was chosen chief minister.
Power transmission sector projects
PM Modi discussed the government’s initiatives to increase solar energy generation and give financial help for family solar installations. He explained that the PM Surya Ghar Yojna aims to offer free power and ease solar panel installations in families, with a focus on the middle and lower-middle classes.
He dedicated to the country electricity transmission projects in Rajasthan worth more than Rs 2,100 crore.
This includes the Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for evacuation of power from solar energy zones in Rajasthan (8.1 GW) under Phase-II Part A; Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for evacuation of power from solar energy zones in Rajasthan (8.1 GW) under Phase-II Part-B1; and Transmission System for providing connectivity to RE projects at Bikaner (PG), Fatehgarh-II & Bhadla–II.
