Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the most popular worldwide leader, with 78% approval ratings, according to a study conducted by the US-based global decision intelligence organization Morning Consult.
The prime minister is more popular than US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and the United Kingdom’s Rishi Sunak.
According to the agency’s website, the most recent approval ratings were compiled from data collected between January 30 and February 5. The ratings are based on a week’s moving average of views among adults in each of the countries questioned.
Modi, 73, is seeking a third term as Prime Minister, a record previously accomplished by India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Sworn in on the day of India’s independence, August 15, 1947, Nehru led Congress to victories in 1952, 1957 and 1962 before he died in 1964.
According to the Morning Consult Survey, PM Modi had the highest approval rating at 78%. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador came in second with a 65% popularity rating, while Argentina’s Javier Milei ranked third with a 63% approval rating. Last December, the same study ranked PM Modi as the most popular, with 76% support.
