The Indian Institute of Management Jammu (IIM Jammu), tucked away in the stunning Himalayas, is a shining example of excellence that will influence management education, business, and society in the years to come. With a strong commitment to developing leaders and encouraging innovation, IIM Jammu has continually established standards in management education while also making major contributions to society.
IIM Jammu was established in 2016 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and commenced operations at the Canal Road transit campus. From its humble beginnings with just 47 students in 2016, the Institute has grown dramatically, now serving over 1200 students across several programs.
With the building of its new campus, the Institute started a journey led by Professor B S Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new IIM Jammu campus, showcasing the institute’s commitment to excellence, social progress, and economic advancement. The 200-acre campus, built at a cost of Rs. 500.91 crores, offers state-of-the-art facilities, including smart classrooms and a modern library called “Nalanda.”
The institute’s vision is to develop leaders and entrepreneurs, motivating students from jobseekers to job creators through practical exposure and industry collaborations. Despite being the youngest of IIMs, IIM Jammu has earned recognition, ranking 15th overall in the NIRF Rankings 2023.
IIM Jammu offers a diverse range of programs, including MBA, Executive MBA, PhD, MBA in Hospital Administration and Healthcare Management, and a Dual Degree Programme (B Tech + MBA) with IIT Jammu. The Centre for Diversity and Inclusion reflects IIM Jammu’s dedication to providing a safe environment for marginalized communities to explore entrepreneurship. The institute has spearheaded impactful programs like the Community Leadership Program, Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship Programme, and the establishment of the Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Skill Development.
IIM Jammu actively promotes community development through initiatives like the Community Leadership Programme and partnerships like the STEM program with SIDBI. The Education Leadership Training Programme for College Principals in Jammu and Kashmir elevates the standard of education in the region. As IIM Jammu continues its journey, it remains dedicated to fostering leadership, innovation, and societal transformation.
