New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, Heeraba, died at the age of 100 on Friday morning. She breathed her last at around 3.30 am. She was admitted to U N Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Ahmedabad earlier this week due to health issues. As the news of her passing emerged, condolences and tributes began pouring in.

Condolences on the demise of PM Modi’s mother Heeraba continued to pour in from across party lines. West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter to say, “Condolences to PM Narendra Modi on the passing away of his mother, Heeraben Modi. I pray that her soul rests in peace. In this hour of grief, I hope that he and his family members find strength.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his family members left the Hindu crematorium in Gandhinagar’s sector 30 after his mother Heeraba’s last rites were performed in full accordance with rituals.
PM Modi was slated to launch development projects worth over Rs 7,800 crore in West Bengal and flag off the Vande Bharat Express connecting Howrah and New Jalpaiguri later today. The PMO said he will attend the programmes through video conferencing after flying to Gujarat for his mother’s funeral.
