On October 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the wedding of Dravya Dholakia, son of Surat diamond baron Savji Dholakia, in Gujarat. The prime minister arrived by helicopter to attend the wedding ceremony, which was hosted by Surat’s wealthiest man.
Dravya Dholakia and Janhvi married at Het Ni Haveli in Dudhala, Gujarat. In the images provided by the family, PM Modi is seen blessing the newlyweds.
Dravya, Dholakia’s only son, married Jahnvi, the daughter of Bharat Chaludiya, a real estate businessman.
Founder and chairman of Hari Krishna Group, Savji Dholakia, said that he extended the wedding invitation to the prime minister when he met him in Delhi.
In a post on Instagram, the diamond baron wrote, “Today, as Dravya and Jahnvi venture on their new journey, we feel immensely blessed to have had none other than the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modiji join us in this moment of joy. His presence and heartfelt blessings for the couple have filled our family with gratitude and pride. It is a day we will cherish forever, a reminder of the values we hold close—of love, unity, and tradition.”
He further said that the weeding was conducted after seven years of hard labour.
“After seven years of hard work, today, this wedding took place without delay. When we met with Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, we invited him to inaugurate Bharatmata Sarovar in Dudhala village. We invited him for two occasions—one for the Sarovar inauguration and the other for the wedding,” he said.
Savji Dholakia is well-known as a diamond trader who lavishes his employees with presents such as fancy cars and fixed deposits. On Diwali 2017, Dholakia donated 1,200 Datsun automobiles to his employees. In 2016, he offered his employees a Diwali bonus of Rs 51 crore and gifted them 1,260 cars and 400 apartments.
Prime Minister Modi was spotted welcoming the families and sitting with Dholakia’s son, Dravya, and Jahnvi, the daughter of real estate businessman Bharat Chaludiya, at their wedding. The bride and groom were also recorded at his feet to ask for his blessings.
