PM Modi Addresses Nation on Independence Day, Kharge Criticizes Government

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on its 77th Independence Day, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stayed at home and issued a taped message in which he praised prior Prime Ministers and accused the current government of hounding the opposition.

A chair bearing the name Mallikarjun Kharge was among the empty seats in a portion of the ancient Red Fort where PM Modi delivered his speech.

Mr Kharge, on the other hand, hoisted the flag for the first time as party president at the Congress office in Delhi. In his speech, he also lambasted the administration, which was a first for any Congress president in many decades. According to the party, the Congress has historically eschewed any criticism or hostility on Independence Day.

Mr. Kharge, the Congress chief, stated that he was unable to attend the Red Fort because of an eye ailment and the security measures in place. He also praised Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Maulana Azad, Rajendra Prasad, Sarojini Naidu, and BR Ambedkar for their contributions to independence. He also complimented Congress Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Rajiv Gandhi, PV Narasimha Rao, and Manmohan Singh for their contributions to nation-building.

He slammed the present administration’s efforts to destroy democracy, the Constitution, and autonomous bodies like as the CBI, the Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax raids, and the Election Commission. He mentioned the establishment of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), AIIMS, space research, and atomic research as evidence of progress.

He criticized the present administration’s efforts to destroy democracy, the Constitution, and autonomous bodies like as the CBI, the Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax raids, and the Election Commission. He listed the establishment of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), AIIMS, space, and atomic research as indicating tranquility or progress that the current government has destroyed.

Mr. Kharge contended that great leaders do not eliminate old history in order to create new history, but rather rename everything in order to silence opposition voices. He questioned whether the current government is renaming old laws that built the country’s tranquility, a method adopted by Prime Minister Modi to rename initiatives and building projects.

PM Modi criticized opposition parties, particularly the Congress, in his 10th Independence Day speech, citing “corruption, nepotism, and appeasement” as the three evils that the country needed to be free of. He also chastised the party’s dynastic politics and its emphasis on family, my family, and for family.
