One of the videos went viral online showing a patient playing a video game inside the operating theatre. The patient, with clear distracted attention towards a video game, was an uncommon turn of events while lying on the surgery table.
Dr. Sumit Ghosh of anesthesia technician and Dr. Pinky Mukherjee as a technician for dialysis posted the video on Instagram. Since then, it has garnered massive attention on social media.
“Anaesthesia kisi ko pain nahi deta” — doctors captioned the video.
The video is taken from an operation theatre where a patient lies on a hospital bed while surgery is going on, but seems quite unbothered and focused on playing some sort of video game on his mobile phone.
So far, the clip has gathered about 100 million views and over a million likes.
This definitely is not the first case of its kind. There has been another case before this where a man played the guitar during brain surgery. “Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center posted a YouTube video showing the patient, Christian Nolen, receiving surgery conducted by Dr Ricardo Komotar. Nolen needed to be awake for the surgery to “evaluate and protect his manual dexterity” as the tumor was removed.
In the video, Nolen is seen singing and playing his guitar as doctors operate on him. His surgeon, Dr. Komotar, showed them talking about his recovery and detailed the steps of the surgery.
“It was just like out of this world, like, to just wake up and have people actively working inside of your head. It’s kind of an insane feeling,” Nolen told WSVN Miami. “To be able to go to the gym and be active once again, which is big in my life, it’s been very amazing, like, the recovery,” he further added.
