Rugby sevens will also begin on July 24 with the men’s games, while the women’s rugby sevens will start on July 28. A total of 288 top rugby players will compete for the Olympic title. Fiji currently holds the men’s title, and New Zealand holds the women’s.

Fiji, the current champions, will be looking for their third straight Olympic gold. However, they will face strong competition. Hosts France, led by star player Antoine Dupont, have just won the 2024 World Rugby Sevens Series Grand Final and are determined to end Fiji’s winning streak.
New Zealand, who won silver in Tokyo, will play against Japan on July 24. Samoa will have a tough start to their Olympic debut, facing Argentina, who won silver in Tokyo.
