A horrifying incident has unfolded in Pakistan, as a passenger train faced a disastrous derailment near the Sahara Railway Station, situated between Shahzadpur and Nawabshah. The Rawalpindi-bound Hazara Express witnessed the derailment of 10 of its bogies, resulting in a tragic loss of lives and injuries.
The Rawalpindi-bound Hazara Express, en route from Karachi, met with a devastating accident near the Sahara Railway Station. Reports indicate that 33 individuals have tragically lost their lives, while more than 80 others sustained injuries as a result of the derailment.
Rescue operations were swiftly launched to assist passengers trapped in the overturned train compartments. Both official rescue workers and civilian volunteers participated in the efforts to save lives. The Deputy Superintendent of Pakistan Railways, Mahmood Rehman, emphasized that the immediate priority is to rescue individuals from the derailed sections. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway, as authorities seek to determine what led to this tragic event.
The injured victims were promptly transported to the People’s Medical Hospital in Nawabshah for medical attention and treatment. While the extent of the damage and the exact reasons behind the derailment are still being assessed, the affected individuals are receiving the necessary medical care.
Pakistan’s Railway Minister, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, speculated that the derailment might have been triggered by a “mechanical fault or sabotage.” In response to this distressing incident, an Emergency protocol has been put into effect at nearby hospitals.
