‘PadhAI’ Crack UPSC Prelims in Less Than 7 Minutes

An artificial intelligence (AI) programme called PadhAI, which was released in India, is gaining attention for its extraordinary results in the UPSC preliminary exams 2024. It is said to have scored more than 170 marks out of 200 with remarkable precision and speed.

Exams for the Union Public Service Commission, or UPSC, open doors to highly sought-after government positions like Indian Administrative Services, or IAS. These are among India’s most difficult exams.

Solving the entire paper in a mere seven minutes, PadhAI far exceeded the typical score needed to qualify, which generally falls below 100, and outperformed commercially available AI models.

As per an official statement, the score places PadhAI in the top 10 nationally, if not rank 1.

The educational AI app, developed by IITians, took the exam publicly in the presence of guests from the education sector, the UPSC community, and media professionals at Delhi’s The Lalit hotel.

The event was also live-streamed at livestream.padhai.ai and YouTube, where the questions and answers are publicly available, the statement said.

“This is the highest score achieved in the last 10 years of UPSC exams. We believe that while our event is first of its kind, in a few years, such events will become commonplace as several educational institutions race to solve papers quickly and precisely with AIs,” PadhAI’s CEO Karttikeya Mangalam said.

What is PadhAI?

PadhAI is an AI education app aimed at revolutionising UPSC and IAS exam prep.

The app claims to provide comprehensive support to aspirants by leveraging AI to streamline and optimise their study process.

It comes with MCQ (multiple choice) questions, daily current affairs updates, an AI chatbot that solves queries in real-time and provides assistance, gives quizzes, UPSC games, and personalized guidance.

Furthermore, it offers news summaries, smart Previous Year Question (PYQ) search, doubt clarification, interactive answer explanations, and book summaries.

In terms of providing educational assistance, PadhAI is likely to compete against the likes of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini and Meta’s MetaAI.
