The National Highway Authority of India is constantly working to enhance transportation methods and facilities throughout the country. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, is continuously putting new initiatives into action in order to make transport more convenient. The implementation of the Toll Plate system in India was the last experiment done by the govt.

India’s Road Transport Minister is currently exploring several options to modify the country’s toll system. Among the proposed changes is the implementation of a GPS toll system and a new number plate system.

Nitin Gadkari said that at present we have a system to collect tolls, but we are working on two options. In which the option is that satellite-based toll-system in which GPS will be installed in the car and toll will be deducted from it.

Now that work on the technology for a new type of number plate has started, it will be mandatory for manufacturers to put this number-plate on all vehicles. All old number-plates will be replaced with new number plates, which will have an auto fitted GPS system in the number plate. A software will be attached to the new number-plate, from which toll will be deducted automatically.

This will get rid of long queues and at the same time you will have to pay less money for work travel. On the contrary, in today’s time one has to pay more toll on short distance road usage. In order to alleviate some of these pressures, the best thing to do is invest in a pass that allows for unlimited travel.
