The National Medical Commission (NMC) announced that the senior-most examiners would henceforth be regarded as the chairman-cum-assessor of the test in an effort to increase openness in the conduct of medical examinations.
The Commission has also sought relevant details of the other examiners from chairman- cum-assessor of the examination, adds NMC.
Earlier this week, the NMC requested that schools submit video recordings of the MBBS first, second, and third year annual examinations, as well as completed standard evaluation Form C, via an internet link. Colleges can send the recording to the National Medical Commission by Google, Sharepoint, or other online manner at ug.exam@nmc.org.in as soon as the examination is completed.
In addition, the Commission now states that the video recording of examination for each subject should not exceed 60 minutes and entire recording shall cover each and every process of the examinations.
“In continuation to the earlier public notice dated 06.02.2024 vide which it was directed to furnish the Video Recording of the forth coming Examinations by respective Colleges/Institutions/Deemed Universities, it is now intimated that the Video Recording of examination for each subject should not exceed sixty minutes and entire recording shall cover each and every process of the Examinations. In furtherance to bring more transparency, it is informed that the seniormost examiner shall be considered as Chairman cum Assessor of the examination. Accordingly, all relevant columns including details of the other examiners be filled in place of Assessors by the Chairman cum Assessor under his seal and signature,” states a notification from Shambhu Sharan Kumar, director, UGMEB, NMC.
According to the Commission, submission of the video recordings is necessary for the grant of renewal of permissions to the medical colleges. “Further, it is intimated that the submission of above information is necessary for considering the proposals for grant of renewal of permissions. Failing of submission of above required recording/documents shall invite appropriate action as deemed fit,” stated NMC.
Aside from that, the NMC has requested information from colleges in the Standard Assessment Form, also known as Form-C, such as the name of the course, subject, college, university, location and date of the test. The colleges must also provide information on the assessors, such as their name, official address, cell phone number, and email address.
Details of the assessors’ views on the questions asked in the question papers must also be given to the apex medical regulator.
